Patience gets treated like a waiting room, something you sit in until the important work starts again. I'm reframing it as a practice you build daily, with one action you can use this week to build it on purpose. Full show notes, transcript, and chapters at sheilabotelho.com/611

When Results Feel Too Slow

Sheila

I talk to founders every week who are doing everything right and who still feel like the results haven't caught up yet. That feeling is usually proof you're building something that takes time to take root. I've spent decades in business watching timelines that felt way too slow turn into exactly the right timing. And today I'm sharing the practice that helped me trust that process, plus one action you can use to build it into your week.

Welcome And What We’re Doing

Sheila

Hi, welcome to the podcast. I'm Sheila Botelho, and I believe true success is built from the inside out. This mini sode is designed to help you live into what lights you up this week.

A Different Angle On Patience

Sheila

I want to come back to patience. I was talking about it recently, but I want to look at it from a different angle. And I even was speaking about it in my most recent edition of Sheila's Notes. So if you haven't read that one and you're subscribed, go check your inbox first and have a listen because this builds on it. And if you haven't, you can subscribe to Sheila's Notes at the link in the show notes.

The Waiting Room Trap

Sheila

Now, here's what I keep noticing in myself and in the people I work with. We treat patients like a waiting room. It's something you sit in until the real work starts again. And think about that. That idea has cost people years because it sends them one of two ways. They either force things before they're ready, or they check out completely and call it trust. And neither one is patience. Patience is a practice, not a mood. It's actionable. It's something you do over and over in the hours nobody sees. Let's think about it like this.

The Seed And The Root System

Sheila

Imagine that you plant a seed in the ground. You make sure it's in good soil, you water it, you give it sunshine. But what you can't do is pry it open and pull the sprout out early because the growth is happening the whole time. You can't see it underground, in the dark, building the root system strong enough to hold what eventually breaks the surface. And many of us skip that part constantly. We want the visible result before the invisible structure is ready to hold it. And when the result lands on a foundation that has not yet set, it doesn't last. I've watched this play out in client after client. And yes, I've lived it myself. So here's the shift I want to leave you with.

Patience Beyond Your Nervous System

Sheila

Patience is an action with a longer timeline than your nervous system is comfortable with. That is patience redefined. It's still active, it's still forward motion. It just isn't rushing the part that has to happen underground.

The Root Check Weekly Questions

Sheila

So here is the practice. I like to call it the root check. Pick one thing that you are most impatient about right now, whether it's a launch, a decision, a relationship, a revenue goal. And one day this week, ask yourself two questions. What is one small action I took toward this today? And what root is growing right now that I cannot measure yet? It may be a skill that you're building, a relationship you're deepening, or clarity that you're gaining about what you actually want. It's dynamic. Write both answers to those questions down, maybe just a single line. And by the end of the week, you'll have proof that you were never sitting still. You were building the part of the plant that nobody applauds because nobody can see it yet. If you're feeling ready to trust the timeline that you're actually on, that is the work.

Trust The Timeline And Closing
