The Sheila Botelho Show: Business Strategy and the Inner Work of Leadership
The Sheila Botelho Show is a business and leadership podcast for founders, CEOs, and women leading at the highest level of their work, who are ready to build the next decade of their business with more clarity, more profit, and more of themselves in the room.
You’ve already done the hard part. You’ve built something that works. You’ve hit the goals that looked impressive from the outside. And somewhere along the way, you started wondering what it would feel like to grow without trading pieces of yourself for the next milestone.
That’s the conversation happening on this show.
Every week, Sheila pulls up a chair for the kind of conversations you’d have with a trusted friend who’s spent decades growing businesses through wave after wave of change, reading rooms, and helping people come home to themselves no matter how fast the landscape moves.
You’ll hear about business strategy, leadership, profit, scaling, identity, creativity, and the shifting landscape of entrepreneurship in a season where everything is changing at once. Solo chats, minisodes, and conversations with founders and leaders building businesses with depth and integrity. Real talk for the woman who’s done the surface-level work and is ready for something with more substance.
So come on in. Get comfortable. This is the place to think bigger, lead steadier, and trust yourself more fully every time you press play.

The Shift Already Underway
SheilaSo many founders I know are still preparing for a version of themselves that's already arrived. They've done the work and they're still treating the next chapter like something they have to earn their way into. This mini sode is about recognizing that the shift is already underway and what it actually asks of you when you let yourself land inside of it. I've spent a couple of decades watching identity and revenue move together, and I want to share the specific thing I see founders miss at this exact stage. Stay with me through to the end. There's something in here that tends to land differently the second time you hear it.
A Founder Who Is Already Ready
SheilaHi, welcome to the podcast. I'm Sheila Botelho, and I believe true success is built from the inside out. This mini sode is designed to help you live into what lights you up this week. So what I've been seeing, and I think it's worth naming directly, is people who've been leading businesses who are genuinely, genuinely building, doing the inner work, growing in ways that are visible to everyone around them and still in the same breath, talking about the shift they're working toward as if it hasn't happened yet. I had a conversation recently with someone who has completely rebuilt how she runs her business over the last 18 months. Different offers, different clients, different capacity for risk. And in the middle of telling me all of it, she said, I think I'm getting close to being ready for the next level. And I stopped her there because she wasn't getting close. She was already there. The evidence was in every single thing she just told me. She needed to hear it too. The version of her who asked for more had shown up, done the work, and was sitting right in front of me, describing herself like she was still in the waiting room. And that's the pattern I want to talk about
Identity ROI Lag Explained
Sheilatoday. Here's what I call it identity ROI, lag. So identity ROI is the return on every moment you did the thing that scared you, every time you showed up as a leader that you were becoming before you had evidence you could pull it off, every time you executed an idea that required you to outgrow the version of yourself who first had it. That return is real and it compounds over time. And it shows up everywhere in your decisions, in your capacity, your revenue, your relationships, the rooms that you're willing to walk into, the conversations you're willing to have, the prices that you're willing to hold. And the lag happens when the business grows and the self-concept doesn't catch up. And it's more common at this level than most people talk about because the higher you build, the more sophisticated the lag gets. It stops looking like classic imposter syndrome and starts looking like something more nuanced, like always being one more thing away from being ready. Or like performing a version of yourself that everyone around you believes in more than you do. Or like setting goals that are technically ambitious, but secretly calibrated to the version of you from two years ago. That last one is the one I really want you to sit with because you know you and you've grown, and you may have a self-concept that hasn't caught up. Because this is the inside out premise applied directly. Your external results will always reflect your internal identity, which means the ceiling you keep bumping into isn't usually a strategy problem. It's often an identity problem. Specifically, it's the gap between who you've actually become and who you're still allowing yourself to be in your own mind. In this mind, this chapter has already turned. The shift you've been preparing for is already underway. The version of you who asked for more has showed up. She's been showing up every quarter, every hard conversation, everything you chose to do anyway when the fear was loud. That was her. That was you. So the question on the table right now is this are you going to keep preparing for a version of yourself that already exists? Or are you going to start building from where you actually are?
Close The Lag With Structure
SheilaAnd I need to be honest about what that requires because it's more than a mindset shift. It's actually structural. It means updating your self-assessment and letting your goals reflect who you are now, not who you were when you first set them. And it means being willing to be seen as the next version of yourself before you feel fully settled inside her. It means closing the lag consciously in the direction of your own evidence. The founders I work with who make the biggest leaps in a short period of time are almost never the ones who suddenly cracked a new strategy. They're the ones who finally let their identity catch up to their results, who stopped describing themselves in the past tense and who looked at everything they'd built and said, okay, I'm building from here now. That's what's available to you right now, also.
Lead From Where You Are
SheilaThe next chapter isn't ahead of you. You're already in it. The work is leading from that place with everything you've actually built, including the version of yourself you've been becoming this whole time. Thank you for being here today. I hope the rest of your week is grounded and expansive. And I will see you on the next episode.
