Joy And Nonlinear Growth

Sheila

It takes time and focus to build great things. And the road to get there certainly is not linear. So you owe it to yourself to build the joy in along the way. And if you're lucky enough to be doing work that you love, that is the first part. If you can enjoy a good chunk of the process of getting there, that is beautiful.

Why I’m Talking About This

Sheila

Hi, welcome to the podcast. I'm Sheila Botelho, and I believe true success is built from the inside out. You're listening to a mini sew designed to help you live into what lights you up this week. I

Behind-The-Scenes Success Stories

Sheila

have been thinking a lot about how fortunate I am to have incredible founders and entrepreneurs around me. They are a diverse group, and many of them are close friends. And really, there's nothing I love more than getting together over a meal and hearing about the journeys they've been on. Every single time I'm inspired by what they've moved through to get where they are. And one thing they all have in common, my clients over the years, too, is that while they were building their success, there were entire other stories unfolding in their lives and inside their businesses. Things people on the outside had no idea about because they were dealing with it in real time. And they had to keep going to keep growing. And often these are the stories that would surprise you. You'd hear someone say something was happening for them publicly. And meanwhile, behind the scenes, things were complicated. They kept moving because they had such a clear vision for what they wanted to build, and they handled the rest in private. And truly, this made them stronger, but it also was not easy. And that's why I wanted to talk about this today.

Grace, Change, And Comparison

Sheila

Everybody is figuring it out. Everybody's trying to figure themselves out. Things are moving quickly. And I've always talked about how we need to have grace on each other and for each other. And truly, we need to have grace for ourselves. The way we do business is shifting. The economy is shifting. So many things are moving at once. And what we see in front of us is part of what's true. And it's just part of the picture. Everybody is at a different phase of their journey toward the legacy that they're building, or maybe they're not even thinking about legacy yet. Maybe they're just focused on the next phase of the work they're already doing, figuring out how to do it well while the world around them keeps shifting. So here's the invitation. I invite you to keep your eye on the prize. Keep going for your dreams, keep putting in the effort and the attention. And alongside all of that, please take care of yourself. And as much as you can, release the comparison to where someone else is on their journey. Because it might look like things are great over there and they might be. They could truly be amazing. And it's also possible that someone has built something beautiful and behind the scenes, things are shifting in ways that they're not ready to talk about yet. That's totally fine. How many times have we heard a success story and later learned what was actually unfolding while that success was being built? Wherever you are right now, whatever you're moving through, it's your story and it's

Build Joy Before The Finish Line

Sheila

being written. In fact, you are co-authoring it. The way you move through it shapes how you feel on the other side of achieving it. So please bake into your process of becoming the way you actually want to feel once you've achieved the thing. Don't wait until the finish line to feel the joy. Don't wait until the finish line to enjoy your life. It takes intention. It takes time and focus to build great things. And the road to get there certainly is not linear. So you owe it to yourself to build the joy in along the way. And if you're lucky enough to be doing work that you love, that is the first part. If you can enjoy a good chunk of the process of getting there, that is beautiful. It takes intention to make that happen. If there's one thing I'd tell my younger self, that would be it. I've tried to bake a lot of joy into my journey, I believe, and I've also made things harder than they needed to be. I've taken longer to get places than I anticipated, and I made myself wrong for it. Through different seasons, I'd hold off on letting myself experience the joy until I reached the finish line. It felt hard. And while that happens, you know, I didn't ease up on myself the way I could have. So here, take this as a reminder. Be mindful of where you're being too hard on yourself and build that joy in now.

Expansion Season Invitation And Close

Sheila

And if any of this is landing for you, I want to invite you into expansion season. Doors are opening and it's the exact space for what I've been describing. It's where you get to move through the becoming with guidance alongside other founders and leaders who are creating with intention. My work spans so many industries and many kinds of businesses. And the thread that runs through all of it is helping you make aligned decisions for whatever you're building. Decisions that come from clarity, from your own knowing, from a grounded place.
