Sheila:

because your energy is a magnet for success. When you feel good, your business reflects it, attracting aligned opportunities, ideas and clients, and long-term success comes from sustainable energy, not pushing through burnout, and I will say that over and over again. Hi, welcome to the Connect with Sheila Botelho podcast. I'm an entrepreneur, self-care strategist and creator of the season's self-care app. I'm committed to helping you reconnect to your purpose, elevate your well-being and build your version of a happy, successful life.

Sheila:

You're listening to a Monday Minisode where I share an insight designed to help you live into what lights you up this week and today on the podcast, we're talking about the energy of your business. Have you ever thought about that? We think about people having energy. Maybe food gives us energy and live plants. There's an energy source there. Your energy is your business's heartbeat. So when you think about this, when you're aligned, when you're clear and cared for, your business thrives. Right. What happens when you're drained? It stops growing. Sharing a quick personal story right now about this, I will tell you that there have been times where you just have to go and do the thing, but I have not felt truly in alignment and needed to still show up, and maybe the impact was seen in my business growth. Maybe I was not actually connecting in the way that I really wanted to. Maybe miscommunications happened. How about you? Has that ever happened to you? So this is an indicator. Why does your energy matter so much when you think about it as the foundation of your business? You are the business when you are our founder, so your clarity, focus and wellbeing are directly reflected in this success. And so let's think about what this means in terms of some signs that you can be looking out for, signs of aligned versus unaligned energy. So when you're aligned, think about it you have creative flow, enthusiasm, you make clear decisions, you're more magnetic to opportunities. And when you're drained, procrastination shows up. You might feel overwhelmed, you get burnt out. Maybe there's a lack of ideas coming through. Business thrives when you thrive. And, of course, there's so many other things to consider when you're dealing with a business, the other people that you're doing business with. And what is that energy? And also, I also love to look at it from the point of view of it's top-down leadership. Always right, the way you are leading impacts the people, and so your energy impacts how your people are showing up, too when you have a team. So there is a connection between personal energy and attracting your dream clients. So there is a connection between personal energy and attracting your dream clients, your personal energy and growing your revenue and also maintaining balance.

Sheila:

Some of the common energy leaks that I see happening for entrepreneurs and these are things that I sometimes struggle with too, and this is why I know it intimately overcommitting saying yes too often. This is something that, over the years, the word no has become such a beautiful gift to me, knowing where I'm meant to be putting my time. Saying no is a complete sentence, really believing that and following through on that and raising my boys I know I mentioned them on the last mini-sode, but raising them to not be afraid of the word no, because we can't say yes to everything. It's just not sustainable. It doesn't matter whether it's our personal life or professional life. So when you work out of alignment with your core values and purpose and you skip your personal wellbeing like sleep, nutrition, exercise, that kind of stuff those lack of boundaries start to impact everything your lack of boundaries with your time, your energy and your relationships. And then there's also these negative thought loops that like to show up. You hear people talking about imposter syndrome, which really, when you break it down, imposter syndrome is like fear dressed up in a beautiful coat and pearls and high heels, and that's a big one. And then, of course, there's the beloved perfectionism that I love to talk about.

Sheila:

Let me ask you, what is one thing draining your energy right now that you're ready to release? I'm so curious about how this comes up for you. Then let's start thinking about how do you protect and restore your energy. Think about some ways that you actually could not only conserve but generate more energy. Do an energy audit, identify the things that give you energy and the things that drain you energy, whether it's people, habits, tasks. Notice I said people first, because sometimes it is the people, and we often will train people how to communicate with us, and so if you get really clear on the energy you're showing up with, it really translates and connects with other people. So you, being in good energy, could really transform the relationships in your life and the communication patterns as well.

Sheila:

And, as always, I'm going to have you prioritize self-care, so make sure that you're building daily rituals for sleep, for nourishment, movement, downtime, spaciousness with your brain and then, in terms of your work practices, of course, not letting your schedule take over your life. But being somewhat on top of your schedule and letting it really be focused around your natural energy peaks, so things that have really helped me and that I tend to guide clients in, as well as batching similar tasks to prevent decision fatigue. When we have so many things to do and we're just looking at it continually and we kind of barely can start, things will take so much longer because we're trying to figure out what to do and we're just looking at it continually and we kind of barely can start, things will take so much longer because we're trying to figure out what to do next. But if you say, hey, this is the time where I am doing my writing, this is the time where I'm getting on phone calls, this is the time where I have meetings, this is the time where I'm creating content to help market my product, my service, it's amazing how much you can get done in that amount of time.

Sheila:

So set those clear boundaries with yourself first to protect your energy Time, block non-negotiable you time and say no where needed. And of course, I'll always invite you to incorporate grounding tools like breathwork, meditation or nature walks, and that's why I incorporate meditation in many of the things that I share with my clients, because your energy is a magnet for success. When you feel good, your business reflects it, attracting aligned opportunities, ideas and clients, and long-term success comes from sustainable energy, not pushing through burnout. And I will say that over and over again, because, no matter how much I say it, a lot of people still will push themselves to the edge. So let's embody it. Protect your energy like your future depends on it, because truly it does.

Sheila:

So decide on one small action, step today to protect your energy. What will it be? And I have something for you that will help you to make plans, to be more protective of your energy and to batch things, and it is called the embodied success method. It's a way for you to look at the year ahead from a more grounded perspective, not one of grasping and one of grandiose visions that feel completely unattainable, but it's something that comes from within, and your goals may seem grandiose to others, but if they feel attainable to you, I invite you to go for it. So this is going to help you plan your goals for the year ahead from the inside out, with you leading the way, and it's all going to come from a place of alignment. So it's a great way to really create space for better things than you can imagine to unfold in your life.
