Do you have a dream that’s been sitting on the shelf, waiting for the right moment to come alive?

In this Monday Minisode, I share reflections on passion, purpose, and what it means to truly live into what lights you up—both in business and life. Inspired by my own journey and a moving documentary about Pink’s career and life on the road, we’ll explore how dreams evolve and why it’s never too late to bring them back into focus.

Whether it’s a hobby you’ve put aside or a goal you’ve convinced yourself isn’t realistic, this episode is an invitation to revisit those dreams and redefine what success looks like for you today. It’s about choosing what matters most and creating a life that aligns with your unique vision.

Sheila:

It doesn't matter where we're at, what we've achieved, our age, any of that. I've always believed this, but it was kind of just a nice confirmation. We get to do the things we want when we're ready to do them, and nobody can tell us otherwise. It's totally up to you where you're at in your world. If you wanna make changes, you get to make that choice. Hi, welcome to the Connect with Sheila Botelho podcast. I'm an entrepreneur, self-care strategist and creator of the Seasons self-care app. I'm committed to helping you reconnect to your purpose, elevate your wellbeing and build your version of a happy, successful life.

Sheila:

You're listening to a Monday Minnesota where I share an insight designed to help you live into what lights you up this week. So today I wanted to talk about dreams. I want to talk about those things that truly do light you up, not just in the immediate time and space that you find yourself in, but those things that, when you look over your life, those images and reflections of experiences that have been really, really meaningful to you. What have they been attached to? Have they been attached to the people in your life? Have they been attached to milestones in your work or your business? Were they maybe attached to a hobby or something that you really enjoy, that maybe you wanted to take seriously at one point in your life. But then you realized, okay, I got to pay the bills, I need to get serious and move on and do some things. And then, in being so serious, maybe you never picked that hobby up again, that thing that you love so much. At one point in your life Maybe you even had a dream of what it would look like to have this hobby turn into a career, a passionate career, and then something along the line whether it was something in your own mind or something that was being told to you by outside of yourself made you say that's not realistic. That dream is it's not really going to get me anywhere. So I need to get serious and buckle down. I'm sure many of us have these experiences in our lives and I had one of these experiences.

Sheila:

When I look back my musical life, I went to art school, I sang. I've always loved to sing. I had a band, I did some recording, I did a little bit of local touring, if you will, and it was so much fun. And I had ideas at a younger age of where I could take this. And then I found myself looking down the line of what it would take to really achieve that success, and, of course, this was in a different time. This was before the YouTubes my goodness. This was before MySpace, if you know what that is and so before social media, and now we live in a time where we're able to really take anything that we want to do and put it out there into the world via digital technology, and so that really shifts things, and there are people who may have their passion that they're doing on the side, on the weekends, in the evenings, and then those who are taking it full time, and then those who are maybe like myself, who have put it on a shelf. Right. What have you put on a shelf in your life, in your experiences?

Sheila:

What got me thinking about this was I was watching the Pink documentary the most recent one that's out right now, and I believe it was chronicling a tour in Europe that she had back in 2021. And what I really loved about it was her candor about really what it takes to be bringing your family on the road while you're actually living your passion and performing this beautiful music that you have that lifts people up, and whether or not you're a fan of Pink, I will say this she's so passionate about what she does and, like many, many people who are on big stages, she has really, really passionate fans, and it's so much more than just going and seeing a live show. There are people who go to the shows who've gone to many of her shows because the music has done something transformative to them. It was so beautiful hearing her read some emails and some messages from some of her fans about the things that she had helped people through, unknowingly, when they would listen to her music. It gave them that little extra bit of encouragement and inspiration and hope to not give up, and I thought isn't that beautiful?

Sheila:

The thing she most wanted to do was perform, be out there lighting up the world with her talent, and here she is also changing the world in her own way, in a positive way, and so I thought, oh, how beautiful to see a model, an image of what it is possible to achieve. And now she had created her career and then brought her family onto the scene. But really she's doing life as much as possible when you have a very large group of people that you are employing in your world and who you are bonding with on the road, she pretty much is living life on her own terms. She also gets into. It is a lot to be dealing with here. You're this person, you want to be this rock star rebel, and then all of a sudden you have all these people on the payroll that you're basically feeding right. And the beautiful thing that she shared was the connection she has with the people she has on the road with her and they become quote like her tour family, right? These people who she will collect, these beautiful individuals who are so gifted at what they do, and keep them with her for the long haul instead of constantly having to sub out new people.

Sheila:

And so a few things came up for me as I was watching it. One was this is what can happen when we go after our dreams. Certainly, we may end up going down a different path, like I did and music is still on the table, by the way, because that's the other thing that I got from this it doesn't matter where we're at, what we've achieved, our age, any of that. I've always believed this, but it was kind of just a nice confirmation. We get to do the things we want when we're ready to do them, and nobody can tell us otherwise. It's totally up to you. Where you're at in your world. If you want to make changes, you get to make that choice, for the most part, right, like in our socioeconomic climate. There may be other things that come up for you, but, like let's really think about it, you get to break it down and see well, what do I need to do to shift in order to do the things I really want to do in my life? There's always a way.

Sheila:

The other thing that really was beautiful to witness was her taking her kids on the road, and her husband as well, and having a beautiful connection with them and wanting to see the world together, to be travelers, to be able to experience the culture and to not be like leaving them for months at a time. And this was one of the things that I think when I thought about having a music career all those years ago. Certainly, it looks a lot different now than it did then, but I wondered how much did I want to be gone? How much did I want to be completely on my own, disconnected, like yes, tour, family, all that kind of stuff. I wanted to have more freedom. I saw being tied to something like that as like, ooh, how freeing would that really be? And now I see you get to make your own way, you get to choose. There are those options. At least now it seems like there's more of an option, and so it was really confirming for me to see and I don't know who you love to follow, which artists, what your passions are, what your hobbies are, but in this time of your life where you're out living your dreams, building your business, doing all the things, does it often feel like you're living your dreams?

Sheila:

Sometimes it can feel monotonous, right? So the reminder is this keep putting in front of you those things that do light you up, that impact everything in your life, and know that maybe there's a dream on the shelf that you want to pull down off that shelf, dust off and see where it will take you. I'd love to hear how this lands for you. What is your thing? Do you have a dream that has untapped that you want to do at some point in the future? I would so love to hear about it. So DM me or text me here in the show notes of the podcast and let me know also what other things you would love to hear. I would love to hear what your responses are to these shows, but also what other things you'd love me to touch on, because there's so many stories, there's so many experiences in a lifetime and these mini sorts are kind of fun to highlight those things.

Sheila:

So if you want to get clear on the steps that you need to take to go after that dream you once had that you thought was no longer for you, maybe because of the phase of life you're in or other reasons, I have something special for you. It's my embodied success blueprint. It's a simple, clarifying five-step process that I've used personally and it's what I guide my clients through to make progress towards their goals. And it's not just an outward process. I've also recorded a short five-minute meditation to address what's happening in your inner world. That's really where all of the impactful shifts happen, right? This practice makes a world of difference for my community and it can for you too. So get it at the link in the show notes and thank you so much for listening.
